It's been almost two months since Selma Blair bravely shared her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) with the world. Now, the actress is finding ways to regain her strength and spirit, both literally and figuratively. Over the weekend, Selma had an emotional and heartwarming reunion with her cherished horse, Mr. Nibbles, after MS symptoms had kept her from riding for quite some time.
Let me tell you, this moment wasn’t just about reconnecting with a horse—it was about rekindling hope, joy, and gratitude. The star of Hellboy couldn’t contain her excitement when she shared a touching photo on Instagram last December 17. “This happened,” the 46-year-old wrote in the caption. “My magical unicorn, #MrNibbles, held my body while I broke open with gratitude. I haven’t been able to ride for four months or more. I haven’t been able to get to him, so my saint of a trainer, @kjrides, brought him to me.” Scroll down to see these breathtaking photos.

I haven’t been able to get to him, so my saint of a trainer, @kjrides brought him to me. It was a fairytale. My horse in my front yard, with more emotions than these words can hold. The gratitude. Thank you #cellardoorequestrian for knowing when I needed you the most. I will heal. I will ride. But until then I will hold onto this feeling and post pictures whenever we all need to believe people will move mountains and horses to help us heal. Thank you @lyon_hearted for arranging this. All my love ❤️ @cellardoorequestrian , my angels. #tearsofjoy 😥 #mystory

Even though this reunion wasn’t about show-jumping or performing tricks, just being close to her horse was enough to bring Selma to tears. “It was a fairytale. My horse in my front yard, with more emotions than these words can hold,” she expressed in her caption. In the photo, you can see Selma wrapped in a tight embrace with her majestic horse, her face glowing with tears of overwhelming gratitude.
Embracing the Healing Journey
Selma’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Though she hasn’t been able to ride for several months, the emotional connection she shared with Mr. Nibbles was enough to remind her of the beauty and resilience in life. “The gratitude. Thank you #CellarDoorEquestrian for knowing when I needed you the most. I will heal. I will ride,” Selma wrote, expressing her determination to overcome the challenges MS has thrown her way.

Facing MS with Grace and Courage
Back in October, Selma revealed her MS diagnosis, sharing her struggles and hopes with her fans in an effort to inspire others. “I have #mMultipleSclerosis. I am in an exacerbation,” she candidly admitted in a heartfelt Instagram post. “By the grace of the Lord, and willpower, and the understanding producers at Netflix, I have a job. A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken GPS. But we are doing it. And I laugh and don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
Selma’s openness about her condition wasn’t just for herself—it was also to inspire others battling similar diseases. “I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others,” she continued. “And even to myself. You can’t get help unless you ask. It can be overwhelming in the beginning. You want to sleep. You always want to sleep. So I don’t have answers.”

Celebrating the Holidays with Strength
As the holiday season swings into full gear, it's hard to imagine how difficult it must be for Selma to celebrate for the first time since her diagnosis. For Thanksgiving, Selma gave her fans a glimpse into her health journey. “I stayed home. It was the right place for me today,” she said, reflecting on her decision to prioritize rest and healing. “And tears came. I have been grieving recently. For the things I took for granted.”
Even amidst the challenges of battling a chronic illness, Selma knows she’s not alone. Her fans have rallied around her, offering unwavering support. “We all have something. Now how do we handle it? What do we do when the news is old but dramatically altering our lives every day?” she asked in a poignant post. “Still grateful.” We’re rooting for Selma and hoping she has a happy, fulfilling holiday season filled with love and strength!
